I thought about it, had the idea but could not get to sit and write it down always travelling, going to work and all that grown up stuff.
May be on the last minutes I shall write down my idea.
Johanna`s pictures always inspired stories in my mind. I looked around in her gallery and older pics and this one was my starting point and one after the other came in and made the story whole. This is maybe a synopsis.
There is a girl walking down the street. These are the last best days of summer. A few days ago circus announcements came out of nothing on walls and fences and she was already excited, there was no way she would not go there, already lurking around the place the tent city started to build.
And now that girl, exotic looking in an unbelievable lacey dress that possibly showed to much, sat there on this exotic zebra with amonkey on her shoulder, making her all the more curious about the wonders that might await her apart from the strong man and tigers. Tigers! She had never once seen anything like this in real live.
The gaze of the girl seemed to say dare to come!
There will be quite some problems and a lot of luck and sneaking around her parents to get a ticket but she gets there!
When the day finally comes she gets in early and all the colored and white striped tents, a lot of small ones and even smaller and the big one! Where the main show will start in short hours. Hopefully she can see it all.
On goes the adventure and there are small stages here and there, cages, a puppet theatre for the kids, more posters announcing even more attractions featuring the tattooed lady, a stick man, an automatic pug, a mechanical unicorn, the bearded lady, conjoined albino twins, a snake girl (not just bending but with scales!), a blue family, a whole lot of dwarves, a lot of freak show actually… lots and lots more and she wanted to see them all. This is a very exciting and adventurous journey from tent to tent, from cage to cage, from stage to stage and she sees them all, all the sideshows, lets her strange fated fortune be told by a sorcerer with a cat with two different eyes. He writes it down for her and she keeps it.
In one cage she sees a savage woman, she gets to ride on a carousel with real animals as it seems, there is a wolf haired woman lying lazily on a chaiselongue in a tent and in another growling ghostly tigers.
No she does not see it all but some strange animals a panda, bears, horses of all sizes, violet antilopes, green monkeys and cobras being charmed out of their baskets by indian guys.
The main show starts and brimming with the fanciest sweets and kids, families all awaiting the circus director to open the show. Orchestra plays and one after the other finest attractions occur, horses a lot of horses, even horses with wings doing most brilliant moves with riders or with dancers balancing even in the fiercest moves. World`s smallest pony being funny with the clowns. More clown shows, funny ones, eccentric ones, interacting with the audience and sad clown stories with harlequins and clownish girls.
A white elephant, the lady with her tigers, bears and lions taming them to do how she wishes.
There comes the sword swallower, fire breathers, jugglers, line walkers with wings, trapeze artists.
A target girl getting knives thrown at her and an electric woman in a cage, lightning all around her.
The eyes of the audience are glowing, living with the entrancing show and the music.
And it ends, Most people ho home very fulfilled but our leading character somehow finds a tent on her way out she has to visit. It says „the main attraction“ and kind of funnily turns out to be a very small and shy unicorn.
Behind this tent there is another, rather gloomy tent with a strange glow. She enters and things aren`t as orderly as in most of the tents. Maybe this is not for visitors which makes it all the more appealing. A big tank is in there and the light come from it. She presses her face against the glass, the water is kind of murky.
All of a sudden movement and a mermaid presses against the glass from the other side. Frightened the girl bounces back hearing the words „finally you`ve come. I waited for so long.“ right in her head.
From there the story gets all the more mysterious with the attempt to free the mermaid and get behind the circus darkest secrets.
